An HVAC design course teaches you to calculate a building's cooling load, select the equipment and size the ducts and pipes that deliver it, then draw the result. It suits mechanical engineers and technicians who want to move from site or maintenance work into design.
The modules
The HVAC design and drafting course at Solve Tech is organised in eight modules: introduction and system types, design fundamentals, advanced systems such as chilled water and VRF, exhaust air systems, software tools, drafting in AutoCAD, installation and commissioning, and QA/QC.
The calculations
You learn heat load estimation by hand and with software, then tonnage and airflow, duct sizing and routing, diffuser selection and pump selection for hydronic systems.
The tools
Carrier E-20 and HAP for loads, duct sizing software, MS Excel for schedules and AutoCAD for single-line and double-line layouts.
Why Dubai makes HVAC a core skill
Cooling is the largest building service in the Gulf climate, so nearly every project needs HVAC design, installation and maintenance staff.
What to take next
Plumbing design, fire fighting systems and Revit MEP round out an MEP profile.
Frequently asked questions
How long is the HVAC design course?
The course card on the HVAC page shows the current hours and batch frequency.
Is the HVAC course available online?
The course page lists the delivery modes for the current batch.
Do I need site experience first?
No, though site experience helps you picture the systems you are designing.
